The Arrest process can be frightening and confusing. Often a person is taken by surprise and find themselves caught up in an unexpected circumstance. Or the Arrest could take place because of an outstanding Bench Warrant for a Drug Crime, or occur after questioning by the authorities in a Domestic Violence case, like if you are found to be driving under the influence (DWI). However the Arrest comes about, or what crime you are accused of, it is important to be aware that you by law you thought to be innocent. You must actually be proven guilty in court in order to be convicted. That said, it is important to your future criminal case that you divulge as little information as possible to the authorities. Remember that you have a 5th Amendment right that allows you to say nothing to the authorities should you be questioned, as well as the right to obtain counsel. This is a very important time in your case, and in order to handle it properly and avail yourself of these rights it is very important that you contact a Suffolk County Criminal Lawyer. These rights are available to you if you are dealing with any New York State Criminal Court case and the matter deals with any type of criminal matter which includes a misdemeanor like an Assault charge or Petite Larceny charge. These same rights apply if your alleged crime is a felony for a Gun Crime as well, or for a case that involves a Sex Crime matter. This applies to a Federal Court case pertaining to White Collar Crimes. This category includes various types of crimes involving fraud, like Mail Fraud, and/or Bank Fraud as well as Securities Fraud. If you are facing the intimidating prospect of defending yourself against a case brought by the Federal Government, it is recommended you secure the services of a Federal Criminal Lawyer right away. My wife and I met under some unconventional circumstances. After I had some legal problems, Mr Bilkis and his firm continually got me out of trouble. I then had his firm represented my wife and he got her out of trouble! We are still married and got our ways straightened away. We both can't thank him enough for saving our lives and our families!
